I have been an avid collector of country, primitive antiques for about 50 years. During those years I have collected, sold, collected, sold---you know how that goes. I was a single owner antique shop for many years. With the onset of the internet my selling venue has changed. I now have a website https://artantiquesmichigan.com/. Some of you may know me from there. I hope to bring to my Dig site the same quality country, primitive antiques as I offer on my website, at reasonable prices. I will update my Dig site every month between the 15th. and 17th. of each month. You will find fresh to market items at that time. My preferred method of payment is by check. Made payable to Joanne Getz. I offer a lay a way plan to help you with your purchases. Michigan residents add 6% Sales Tax. I do hope you will stop by often. I can be reached nearly anytime at joannemargetz@gmail.com or call me 9894281009.

Unusual Scouring/Scrub Box

This little scrub box has some very nice features. I love the small size. I measures 9 1/2 inches x 4 1/4 inches. The box cants downward from 2 1/4 inches to 1 1/2 inches. The work surface has a unique opening cut into it so you can place the knife in place for scouring. The surface is original and greatly patinated. Constructed with small square nails. Notice the interesting cut out back elevation–a sweet little design touch. I believe the wood is Walnut.

Signed and dated in the lower left corner, K. Siegert 39. I believe that the subject matter is European. The paintings were meant to be a pair and are being sold together. One of the Ships in the painting is the Hansa. Each measures 19 1/2 x 26 1/2 inches. Oil on old canvas boards. Hansa Line / Deutsche Dampfschifffahrts-Gesellschaft “Hansa” The Hansa Line of Bremen was formed in 1881 to run services to the Baltic, Mediterranean and India. The Baltic service was soon abandoned as unprofitable, and the Mediterranean service reduced to Spain and Portugal. In 1890 the company started a service to the River Plate and later sailed to the US Gulf ports for the cotton trade. A service from North America to India via South Africa was formed in 1901 and in 1907 this was extended to the Dutch East Indies and Australia. In the 1920s Hansa established a service from the US to the Persian Gulf ports, but the River Plate service was abandoned. Sailings between New York and South and East Africa were not resumed afte
